Have you ever had your brake fluid changed? Why you ask? Contrary to popular belief the brake system is not a sealed system. Brake fluid absorbs moisture through small pores in rubber hoses and seals and every time the reservoir cap is removed during inspections...drivers apply their brakes approximately 75000 times a year, during braking there is extreme pressures and heat, the added moisture absorbed by brake fluid brings the boiling point down from approx 500 degrees which is the boiling point of new fluid,
if the moisture content is high enough ,during braking the fluid can boil causing loss of braking or diminished braking, also high moisture content can corrode brake lines internally causing lines to fail.....
Check out our Brake flush machine.  It works by pushing fluid through the brake system. All the bleeder valves must be opened and the ABS (or Anti Lock Brakes) must be cycled on and off after bleeding and then re-bled.

Road Trip: Be Ready for Anything with a Trip Inspection at Integrity Auto Care -
Road trip, anyone? Nothing spoils a great vacation faster than ending up stranded on the side of the road or spending a week in a rundown motel while our vehicle sits in the shop. Long days on the road can bring out the worst in your vehicle, so before you leave, prepare it for the journey by getting a trip inspection at Integrity Auto Care in South Beloit. After all, you wouldn't travel without clean socks, why ask your vehicle to travel with a load of dirty oil?

The first step in a trip inspection at Integrity Auto Care is to look at your travel plans. What kinds of roads will you be driving on? Will you be in the IL back country or on the freeway? Will you be crossing mountains? Off-roading? What will the weather be like? How many miles away from South Beloit will you be traveling? How much are you hauling? Will you be towing a trailer or lugging a rooftop carrier? Will you encounter dust, mud, snow or sea salt? All of these questions can help determine which services are most needed. And don't hesitate to ask your Integrity Auto Care service advisor. He can give you good auto advice on what trip conditions are hardest on what systems of your car and what kinds of services your vehicle realistically needs. Start with the tires and check them for tread wear and proper inflation. Replace or rotate them as needed. If you need to change them out for winter tires, then do so.

Then look at your shocks or struts for wear. Replace them if needed. You'll want that extra comfort on your trip. Be sure to check your alignment as well. Steering a vehicle that is out of alignment is tiring, and dangerous. Don't overlook your brakes. With extra passengers and baggage, your brakes are going to get a workout. You want them in top condition.

In addition, inspect belts and hoses. If any of them are close to wearing out, have them replaced before your long trip does them in.

Change your engine air filter if it needs it, or if it's close to needing it. For every gallon of gas you burn, your air filter processes 12,000 gallons of air. A clean air filter will protect electronic sensors that effect how your engine runs.

Get an oil change at Integrity Auto Care in South Beloit if it's coming due. Make it a full-service oil change while you're at it. That way, all of your fluids will get checked and topped off. Change any dirty or old fluids. South Beloit drivers don't want to overstress their cooling systems or transmissions with dirty fluid during a long trip.

Does your vehicle smell? Check the cabin air filter. The bad smell could also indicate an exhaust leak, which can be fatal on a long trip. So don't ignore bad odors; check them out.

If your air conditioning hasn't been up to snuff, then give it an overhaul. You want your vacation to be relaxed and pleasant, and that means keeping the passenger compartment comfortable.

And be sure to check your wiper blades and your headlamps. You may find yourself driving in unfamiliar territory at night after a long day. You'll want to be able to see as much as possible.

Of course, almost everything listed here is just part of preventive maintenance for smart driving. If you keep up with your car care on a regular basis, a trip inspection will be a breeze at Integrity Auto Care.

Taking care of your vehicle before you leave for a road trip will pay you back in safety, peace of mind, improved comfort and better fuel economy. It will also help your vacation go as planned by keeping you on the road and headed for that next great adventure. Just don't forget to pack your socks.

Deep Clean Your Fuel System at Integrity Auto Care

Jun 6th, 2016
Having trouble with your fuel system? Bring your vehicle into Integrity Auto Care for a check up.

In today's Integrity Auto Care auto post, we're talking about fuel system cleaning. The first thing to know is how it is to have a clean fuel system. South Beloit residents need fuel to go, and the cleaner the fuel system, the more efficiently the fuel will burn. That means more power and better mileage .

A clean fuel system saves money for South Beloit drivers at IL gas stations. We guess you could say, it all starts and ends at the pump. One of the most important things South Beloit residents can do to keep their vehicle fuel system clean is to buy good quality gas. Major brands have detergents that keep gum and varnish from rapidly building up in the fuel system.

So buying cheaper gas in IL can actually be more expensive for South Beloit drivers in the long run. Now, most cars on IL roads are more than five or six years old. That means they've had time for some dirt and rust to start accumulating in the fuel tank. This junk needs to be filtered out of the fuel before it hits your vehicle engine. That's the fuel filter's job.

When the fuel filter is clogged, the dirty fuel will bypass the filter and go on up to the engine where it can clog fuel injectors and get into the cylinders. So South Beloit residents should have their fuel filter changed when recommended. Check your owner's manual or ask your friendly and knowledgeable Integrity Auto Care service advisor if your fuel filter is due for replacement.

Timing Belts
The timing belt is an often overlooked part of the car but it plays an important role.
When an auto technician tells you that your car needs a timing belt  and it was going to cost $500 or more, you might assume it’s a scam.

But it really is not, replacing the timing belt is absolutely crucial.

Your engine depends on the timing belt, as an integral part of your engine.  If the timing belt fails, so does your engine, causing your car to die right there.

So if you are driving 70 mph on the freeway it broke, you will lose steering and brakes power assist  so It is definitely a safety issue.

How the timing belt works

The timing belt is a rubber part of most internal combustion engines and is responsible for synchronizing engine functions. It controls the rotation of the camshaft in accordance with the crankshaft.  It times the opening and closing of valves to allow air and fuel in and out of the engine.

In order for the process to take place, the valves have to open and close at the right time, otherwise the valves can hit the pistons and mechanical damage to the engine and valvetrain will follow.

When to replace the timing belt?

Unfortunately, in most cases, there are no obvious signs the timing belt is near death; it will just break. That is why we recommend replacing it every 60,000 to 100,000 miles. Always check your owner’s manual for the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Timing belts used to be a relatively ignored maintenance item by many drivers. Vehicles run much longer and the cost to repair damaged engines has increased substantially due to complexity and increased technologies in the newer engines. Now most timing belt replacement jobs are for preventive maintenance.

Timing belt replacement cost

Replacing a timing belt for preventive reasons typically costs $500 to $900. However, replacing a broken timing belt may cost up to $6,000 or more if it caused damage to the valves, pistons or water pump. It can be very stressful and should not be ignored.

Hope this helps.
